This is a series of 7 blogposts addressing common causes for failure on the hCG Diet, and thus how we can succeed. You can see my overview of the 6 basic reasons for failure I outlined in the first post to get us started. So let’s dive in to Reason #1 and how avoid the problems that can come from it.

Not Having a Clear Idea of What Is Involved with the hCG Diet Plan (It’s Harder Than You First Thought)

This is very common for hCG newbies, and don’t feel bad if you are one of those that got derailed by this. Before you experience it, it’s easy to think that you can do something like this no problem. Read more >>> By Rayzel Lam

I’ve been getting this question a lot, “should I exercise on the hCG Diet?” And it’s a good one to talk about because whether you personally exercise on hCG could bring you even better results, or could cause you to totally give up. What’s important to note here, as with so many things in life, is that what will work well for one person, may not work at all for another. We are so unique and the state of health we are in could be very different from the person sitting next to us. Part 2 of this Series on hCG and Exercise will discuss what I’d say is the “meat” of the discussion- the exact things to consider when deciding if exercise on hCG is for you, but let’s start with a little preface if that’s okay so that you can understand why the answer to this question can sometimes be no. An Example Showing How Different the State Our Bodies Are In Can Be It’s like if you’re a diabetic sitting next to a dude who just finished the tour-de-france bike ride- you’re each given a glass of sugar water. Is it bad for both of you to drink it? Is it good for both you to drink it? Most likely the tour-de-france guy will actually benefit since he was just involved in such extreme exercise and his muscles could use some refueling, but it’s obvious the diabetic should avoid it (this is just an illustration okay guys? I don’t want to get any emails telling me sugar is always bad- I avoid the regular forms of sugar entirely myself, I get it).

Does the hCG Diet Work?

I am giving you this answer based on my own proof. You can come to your own conclusion based on your own research. The deciding factor as to whether the hCG diet “works”, to me, is whether the weight lost on the diet is composed of mostly fat. After all, when people assume it's a starvation diet, what they mean to say is that they believe the person is losing a large amount of muscle mass and that their metabolism is lowering itself to conserve energy thus leading you to an unhealthier state of body after the diet that will easily rebound. But is this true of the hCG Diet?

hCGChica Update

I am 120.2 lbs on Day 35 of the VLCD of Round 5 on the hCG Diet.  My video has a bodyshot of what I currently look like at this weight.  Since I started at 172 pounds and a size 16/18 and in this video you'll see me wearing a size 2 pair of jeans, I think that speaks volumes for what hCG can do if you follow the protocol properly from start to finish.

So how will you know if you are on the right dose of hCG? How should you feel exactly?

These are good questions, especially if this is your first time trying the hCG Diet because you're not quite sure what to expect (kind of like wondering what it's like to give birth to a baby when you're pregnant for the first time!) Why does the dosing of hCG matter?

DOSE MATTERS. Should I print up some shirts for us hCGers? I can't reiterate the importance of this enough. Reasons having the right dose for your personally while on hCG:

First of all, if you are hungry on the hCG Diet, it will be totally intolerable and you will give up. It's totally miserable to be hungry all the time and not sustainable. Not to mention you will probably run your family members out of the house because you'll be so grumpy. Secondly, and more importantly, having no hunger on hCG is a good indicator that your body really is using your stored fat for fuel. Experiencing excessive hunger then would indicate the opposite. It is possible that being on too high or too low a dose of hCG that causes you hunger will cause your body to hold on to fat instead. This could cause you to not lose weight at all, or to lose muscle. I don't think I have to say this not what you want while eating only 500 calories each day! I have seen far too many people not address hunger issues soon enough- if you are abnormally hungry, please check into the possible causes right away so you can get the best results for your time on the hCG Diet. How Should I Feel on the hCG Diet as Regards Hunger? Let's talk about it in a nutshell first, then we'll expand on the topic in a little more detail. In a nutshell: Aside from the first few days of the diet (we'll talk about those in a minute), for the majority of the time you are on the VLCD (very low calorie days) of the hCG Diet, you should not be hungry most of the day. However, at mealtimes, times like noon and 6pm, it's normal to be hungry to need to eat the designated hCG meals. That's why we do eat that small amount of 500 calories. You are going to feel the need to eat something, so it is normal to be hungry at those times. So just because you do get hungry a couple times during the day, if it's time to eat your meal, that's fine, that doesn't mean that you are on the wrong dose. The key here is that when you do get hungry and then eat your small meal of 200-250 calories, when you complete eating it you should then be satisfied and no longer hungry for several hours afterwards. You're not going to feel “full”, but you should be no longer hungry. You may consistently have an “empty” feeling in your stomach that you are not used to, especially if you're used to eating to the point that you are really “full.” Remember, there is very little actual food in your stomach, so an “empty” feeling is normal. This is different than actual hunger. So in general how you should feel on the right dose of hCG: Most of the day not hungry, hungry at mealtimes, even more hungry if you wait too long to eat one of your meals, but then once you eat your meal you should be satisifed and no longer hungry for several hours afterwards. For those with blood sugar issues you may find that you need to eat a little something in the mornings. Many though will not need to eat anything until lunchtime.

I've been very happy with what I've accomplished with this round of hCG. At this point I had intended on ending my round, but ended up extending it to a full 6 week round. I may not always have a factual answer for your hCG questions, but I'll give you the from-my-experience-and-what-I've observed-in-others answer. To be honest, sometimes it's these types of answers that I find to be the most valuable anyway.

Drumroll please.....2 lb drop on VLCD 12 of Round 5. 125.4 down from 127.4 yesterday. That's 9.4 lbs in 11 days now. Yup. Pretty happy if I do say so myself. Also wanted to give you a bodyshot in my size 2 jeans (you'll have to watch the vlog for that)! The last thing thing that is different about this round of the hCG diet is that I'm injecting in a variety of other places than usual- I've injected in my upper arm and my inner and outer thigh. I find that when I find a nice fatty place to inject, my hunger is the least. That's it for this day's update on my own personal hCG Diet Story. Now I'm going to go find something to help you guys with....
